Joe Saltzman was a former Ada teacher
John Joseph "Joe" Saltzman, Jr., age 79, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020, at 1:05 p.m. at Blanchard Valley Health System, Findlay.
He was born at home on July 3, 1941, to the late John Joseph and Priscilla (Miller) Saltzman, Sr. Joe married Patricia (Rose) Saltzman on May 29, 1965, and they were married for 55 years and she survives in Ada.
Joe graduated from Vanlue High School in 1959, The Ohio State University and received his master's degree from Bowling Green State University. He was a school teacher at Ada High School for seven years and Hardin Northern Schools for three years.
Joe previously sold Nationwide Insurance, checked certified seed fields for Ohio Seed Improvement, Columbus, and at one time he did his own farming. He was the owner of the Joe Saltzman Rentals in Ada.
Also surviving are his two sons: John J. Saltzman, III of Ada, and Jerrold J. Saltzman of Findlay; three grandchildren: Tyler, Mackenzie and Cassandra; three brothers: Calvin Saltzman of Sanford, N.C., Paul Saltzman of Rossford and Mark (Charlotte) Saltzman of Waverly; six sisters: Diana (Phil) Armstrong of Pittstown, NJ, Suzanna (Bob) Wells of Vanlue, Nancy (Ken) Powell of Findlay, Jane (Dean) Kirian of Alvada, Linda (Dave) Mikkelsen of Vanlue and Judy (Norris) Alfred of Findlay; and lots of nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law: Jan Saltzman in 2020 and Kathy Saltzman in 1998; brother-in-law, Jeff Snook in 2016; father-in-law, Joe D. Rose on Dec. 11, 2020; and mother-in-law, Mary (Losey) Rose in 1986.
Joe loved his family and friends and never met a stranger. He was an Ohio State Football fan and attended the home football games each year.
It was Joe’s wish to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
