Aleece Al-Olimat and Jacob Morgan honored by Kenton Elks

The two Ada HS seniors are November teenagers of the month

Aleece Al-Olimat and Jacob Morgan are the Kenton Elks Lodge 157 Ada’s teenagers of the month.

Students from each school in Hardin County are recognized each month for this award.

Aleece Al-Olimat
Aleece  is a four-year marching band, pep band and concert band. This year she is woodwind section leader. As a sophomore she was a Winter guard member and on TEAMS. During her sophomore year and now as a senior she is in Varsity Singers. As a junior and senior she is a member of VEX robotics and the National Honor society.

She served on the school’s advisory leadership team in 2017. She was nominated to represent Ada HS at the HOBY Leadership Seminar last year.

As a freshman she was a teacher’s assistant for Ada third graders. She worked on the Music Feast staff as a sophomore and helped clean gardens and the entrance to Vancrest during her leadership seminar.

Aleece served as a staff member at a refugee camp in Jordan throughout her eighth grade year and in the summer entering her freshman year. She also served as an assistant to an English tutor in Taiwan during the summer of her sophomore year.

“I plan on attending a research-based university following high school graduation,” she said.

“I intend on studying computer engineering and neuroscience and anticipate continuing my education by earning a doctorate in either computer engineering, neuropsychology or computational neuroscience.”

She is the daughter of Khalid Al-Olimat and Feng Jao of Ada.

Jacob Morgan
Since eighth grade he was a member of the marching band, pep band and concert band. He is section leader in band. As a freshman and sophomore he was a member of the Varsity Singers band and as an eighth grader and sophomore he was in the school musical band. He also was in Winter guard as a freshman. As a freshman he was recipient of the Quincy Jones Musicianship Award.

As a junior and senior he is a member of the National Honor Society, as a freshman and sophomore he was a Language Club member.  Earlier this year he was a volunteer helper with the Ada purse raffle fundraiser.

In athletics, Jacob was on the Ada HS cross country team for three seasons , baseball team since being a freshman and golf team for the past two seasons.

Jacob was named the golf team player of the year as a senior, rookie of the year as a junior, and was all-Northwest Conference honorable mention in golf as a senior. He has played on the Putnam County fall baseball league for two seasons.

As a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior, he has been an NWC gold scholar athlete in each sport.

Jacob is the senior class vice president.

He was a lifeguard at the Ada pool this past summer and plans to return to lifeguarding next summer.

Following high school he plans to attend college but is uncertain of a major, although he is learning toward biology or something medical-related. He hopes to play baseball while in college.

He is the son of Bill and Amy Morgan of Ada.

Previous Elks students this school year from Ada are Brenna Hissong and Jacob Thaxton during October.
