Ada wrestling season ends at district level

TROY - Three members of the Ada varsity wrestling team competed in the Div. III district meet at Troy's Hobart Arena Friday and Saturday.
Troy Christian won the team title with 170 points. Xenia Christian came in second with 148, while Allen East finished third with 134.5 points.
The Bulldogs scored four points at the double-elimination district event to tie for 42nd out of 51 teams. Ada individuals won two out of eight matches at the competition.
Bulldog senior Reece Evans lost his first match Friday in the 152 lbs. class by pin at 3:37 to Mason Starnes, a sophomore from Brookville.
Evans then rebounded to win his next bout in the consolation bracket first round over Blake Boldman of Triad by pin at 4:04.
On Saturday, Evans took on junior John Thomas of Reading and dropped a 7-5 decision in the consolation second round, which eliminated him from the tournament.
Evans finished his senior season with a fine record of 27-13.
Bulldog freshman Antonio Pettit lost his initial match in the 113 lbs. bracket to top-seeded freshman Jason Shaffer of Troy Christian on Friday. Shaffer won by pin in 1:43, and he eventually finished second in the bracket.
In the first consolation round Friday, Pettit bounced back to defeat sophomore Joden George of Reading 4-2 to advance to Saturday's competition.
On Saturday in the second consolation round, Pettit lost a 4-2 decision to freshman Carder Miller of Spencerville to conclude his own frosh campaign with a 13-11 record.
Ada junior Colton Biederman faced top seed freshman Boede Campbell of Xenia Christian in round one of the 120 lbs. bracket Friday, and lost via pin in 1:29. Campbell ultimately finished third in the 120 lbs. division.
Biederman then fell to junior Dylan Rowland of Williamsburg by an 8-2 decision in the first consolation round to be eliminated. He ended his season with a 16-16 record.
A top-four district finish in any weight class advanced a wrestler to the state meet at the Schottenstein Center of Ohio State University in Columbus March 13-15.
