The Ohio Northern women's and men's indoor track and field team competed in the Steemer Showcase Saturday at Wittenberg University.
Women's results
Senior Maggie Krause (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) paced Northern. She won pole vault, clearing 3.65 meters, while fellow senior Allison Stevens (Naperville, IL./Central) and freshman Anna Schatzle (Brookville, Ind./Franklin County) took sixth and seventh with marks of 3.35 and 3.20, respectively.
Freshman Gabrielle Kowalczyk (Marion/Pleasant Local) placed third in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:23.45. Sophomore Gizem Tanriverdi (Ada) took fifth in the same race, logging a time of 1:24.25, and senior Madeleine Routhier (West Unity / Hilltop) crossed sixth with a time of 1:24.26.
Junior Chyanne Retcher (Ney/Fairview) placed third in the 1000-meter run, recording a time of 3:05.46. Freshman Lexi Neff (Northfield/Walsh Jesuit) took sixth, registering a time of 3:10.54.
Freshman Erica Mobley (Westerville/Westerville North) placed sixth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 20:37.04.
Sophomore Kayla Silva (Westerville/South) finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.24 meters, and fellow sophomore Mackenzie Detmer (Waterville/Liberty Center) placed seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 9.91 meters.
The Polar Bears travel to Marietta for the OAC Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday.
Men's results
Andrew Buderer (Oak Harbor) placed runner-up in pole vault, clearing 4.75 meters. Donald Gaylord II placed sixth with a mark of 4.10.
Sophomore Nate Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph) also boasted a second-place finish. He crossed second in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 49.19.
The 800-meter relay team Freshmen Brandon Berry (Wickliffe) and Branden Kadlubowski (Fremont/St. Joseph Central Catholic), sophomore Christian Booze (Bellevue) and freshman Vini Sousa (Spencerville) topped the field, registering a time of 1:34.27.
Junior Owen Lloyd (Colfax, Ind./Clinton Prairie) placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.54.
Junior Cade Saunders (Marysville) cleared 1.73 meters in high jump to place eighth, and fellow junior Colin McCullough (Galion) took eighth in long jump with a mark of 6.26 meters.
The Polar Bears travel to Marietta for the OAC Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday.
