The Ohio Northern University chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) received several honors during the recent national conference in San Diego, Calif.
The ONU chapter earned the Star Chapter Award for the 10th consecutive year.
This award recognizes chapters for achieving goals such as programming and relationship-building. The ONU chapter’s achievements include conducting workshops, excelling in client work for the student-run True North PR firm and offering members opportunities to learn more about the profession through tours of public relations firms in various cities.
Also, the chapter won the Dr. F.H. Teahan Award, which recognizes chapters for excellence in activities such as chapter newsletters, membership drives, fundraisers, relationships with PRSA chapters and members, public relations publications and overall membership involvement.
Additionally, spring 2019 graduate Michaela (Long) Carter of Findlay, Ohio, received the National Gold Key Award for her accomplishments as a student. The Gold Key Award recognizes college seniors who excel in public relations education and serve as leaders in PRSSA chapters. Carter served as president of ONU’s chapter during the 2018-19 academic year.
The ONU chapter of PRSSA provides professional development, weekly meetings, a strong alumni base and networking opportunities to help bridge the classroom with the workplace.
