Scott Gerber tells Ada Kiwanis members about his latest book

President Myrna McCurdy called the 8th meeting (November 20th) of the 2012–2013 Ada Kiwanis year to order at 12:00 noon at McIntosh Center, ONU.

The invocation was offered by Jon Umphress.

Tom Kier announced that his favorite event, the annual Possum Drop in Brasstown, North Carolina has been cancelled for New Year’s Eve.

In business:
-The club heard an updated financial report from Treasurer Bryan Marshall.

-President McCurdy also announced that our meeting on December 11th 11 will be our Christmas Luncheon/Auction at the Community Health Professionals Building. Members were asked to bring items for the auction.

The Ada-Liberty Township Fire Department participated in the Nov. 24 Bluffton Blaze of Lights holiday parade.

Jacob Reel presents Christmas concert Dec. 9 at Ada Church of Christ (Disciples)

The Ada Church of Christ (Disciples) 316 S. Main St., Ada, is hosting a free Christmas concert with Gospel singer Jacob Reel from Upper Sandusky.

The concert is at 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9, at the church. Reel will be featuring songs from his Christmas CD,"Snowflakes and Angels."

A free-will offering will be taken. A candle lighting "Silent Night will end the service and a special song and gifts for the youth.

The concert is open to the public.

Katie Mengos leads three Polar Bears in double figures as women's basketball tops St. Mary's (Ind.) 77-62

Senior Katie Mengos scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a 77-62 victory over Saint Mary's (Ind.) on Sunday in the Saint Marys Thanksgiving Classic.
The Polar Bears improve to 4-1, while the Belles fall to 2-3.

Mengos led all scorers with her 20 points. Junior Cenzie Yoder added 15 points and senior Joanna Snyder chipped in 10 points for ONU.

SMC had four players score in double figures, led by Ariana Paul with 16 points.

Rushton leads Polar Bears to 84-68 victory over Finlandia (Mich.) at Alma Thanksgiving Classic

Junior Branden Rushton scored 24 points for the second consecutive game, leading the Ohio Northern men's basketball team to an 84-68 victory over Finlandia (Mich.) Sunday afternoon on the second day of the Alma Thanksgiving Classic.

The Polar Bears improve to 4-1 on the season and went 2-0 in the tournament, while the Lions fall to 0-6.

Rushton was 9 of 13 from the floor and dished out four assists to go with his 24 points.
Rushton and sophomore Isaiah Roux were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Junior Jared Horstman had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds and sophomore Jordan Martin added 13 points for ONU.

Five score in double figures as men's basketball tops Alma (Mich.), 99-71

Junior Branden Rushton scored a game high 24 points, as the Ohio Nothern men's basketball team had five players score in double figures in a 99-71 victory over Alma (Mich.) Saturday evening at the Alma Thanksgiving Classic.

The Polar Bears improve to 3-1 on the season with the win, while the Scots fall to 0-3.
Sophomores Lucas Pennington and Isaiah Roux each scored 17 points for ONU.

Junior Jared Horstman had 12 points and senior Taylor Kuhlman finished with 11 points.

Northern shot a solid 15-of-24 (62.5 percent) in three pointers on the evening.
