The Ada girls soccer team crushed visiting Marion Harding 11-0 Saturday to win their home opener.
The win lifted the Lady Bulldog record to 1-2.
Ada senior Katie Butterfield set a program record for goals in a single game with five scores. Senior Ella Poling surpassed the school career assist record with three assists vs. MH to run her total to 17.
"We started very strong, scoring in the first two minutes," said Ada head coach Doug Poling. "We never looked back, scoring five more times before half."
Ada raced to a 6-0 halftime lead as Butterfield and Timber Blankenship each hit the back of the net twice. Senior Braelynn Dodge and sophomore Hailey Robirds both scored one goal before intermission.
Poling dished out two assists, while Blankenship and Butterfield also passed out one helper apiece in the first half.
Butterfield kept up the onslaught in half two with three more goals. Sophomores Lauren Mullins and Ella Badertscher each scored in half two as well.
Poling and Blankenship both passed out one assist in half two. Blankenship ended up with two goals and two assists, while Butterfeld had five goals and one assist.
Senior keeper Kenzie Long and the defense recorded the shutout with two saves. Ada out-shot MH by a whopping 37 to two margin.
"We played much stronger, and played good soccer the entire game," said Poling.
Ada plays at tough Spencerville (1-0) Tuesday, August 27 in the NWC opener.
