The Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law commencement exercises will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, in the ONU King Horn Sports Center.
Jeremy Martin of Lima, will be the student speaker.
The Hon. Randall T. Shepard will deliver the keynote address and will also be awarded an honorary degree. Shepard was the longest-serving chief justice in the history of the Indiana Supreme Court prior to his retirement in 2012. He is currently a visiting professor at the Indiana University McKinney School of Law.
His years as head of the state judiciary featured such milestones as the plain-English jury instructions, minimum standards for death penalty representation, mandatory continuing legal education for lawyers, projects to increase the number of minority lawyers, programs on alternate dispute resolution and workplace Spanish training for courts and clerks.
Approximately 637 students are earning their degrees from the university this academic year, including 62 from the ONU College of Law.
Ceremonies were held for the ONU College of Pharmacy as well as the other three colleges (Arts & Sciences, Business Administration and Engineering) on May 12.
