BVH forms new “Beating and Breathing as One” Support Group

The Smart Heart and Easy Breathers support groups have now combined to form the new Blanchard Valley Hospital Beating and Breathing as One support group. Beating and Breathing as One (B&B) will provide education and support regarding cardiac and pulmonary topics.

All meetings of the B&B support group will be held in the Marathon Auditorium at Blanchard Valley Hospital and are open to the public. Upcoming events include:

Monday, October 1 at 7 p.m. – Living with Chronic Illness
Presented by John Malacos, Ph.D., clinical psychologist

ONU women's soccer stays in national ranking

The Ohio Northern women's soccer team is ranked No. 19 in the fourth weekly 2012 Continental Tire/NSCAA Men's Division III poll and is No. 21 in the fourth weekly D3soccer.com poll, which were released on Tuesday.

In the NSCAA poll, the Polar Bears (5-0-3) were ranked No. 20 in the third and second polls, were ranked No. 18 in the first weekly poll, were ranked No. 12 in the 2012 preseason poll and were No. 13 in the final 2011 NSCAA poll.

Emory (Ga.) is ranked No. 1, Trinity (Tex.) is second and Messiah (Pa.) is third.

In the D3soccer.com poll, Ohio Northern received 113 points and were ranked No. 22 in last week's poll.

OHSAA Releases Weekly Football Computer Ratings

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio High School Athletic Association released its weekly football computer ratings Tuesday, Sept. 25. The weekly computer ratings are released every Tuesday afternoon beginning after the fourth week of the season, leading up to the final report released on Sunday, Oct. 28. The top eight teams in each region will qualify for the regional quarterfinals.

Ratings are listed by division and region with record and average points. Log on to the football page at OHSAA.org for an explanation of how the ratings are calculated.

On Main Street in Ada, among the many shops and restaurants, sits a dance studio called Rhythm in Motion Dance Centre. With its beautiful awning, it stands out from the other store fronts. Upon walking in, one may notice that the inside is very open and inviting with the dance floor immediately following the waiting area.

During observation, the owner, Darcey Schneider, shows an encouraging, warm and dedicated demeanor while working with 7-9 year olds, who are learning tap.

C-SPAN Campaign 2012 bus will stop in Ada Oct. 3

The C-SPAN Campaign 2012 Bus will make a stop at Ohio Northern University as part of its “Road to the White House” tour on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. The bus will be parked between The James F. Dicke College of Business Administration and the Hill Building.

The Campaign 2012 bus is designed to provide an interactive, self-guided multimedia experience demonstrating C-SPAN’s offerings and unique campaign coverage. Individuals are encouraged to stop by and view the state-of-the-art C-SPAN bus, which features an interactive, educational experience with the goal of providing resources to enhance thought and discussion of government and public affairs.
