Nearly 100 high school students participate in Model UN

Nearly 100 high school students from as far away as Indianapolis and Cincinnati participated in a Model UN on the ONU campus on Saturday.

Before arriving in Ada, the students were given a country to represent and studied that nation, especially its politics. Then, on campus, the students voted in a mock General Assembly how they thought the country they represented would vote.

The difficult issues discussed were:
• Eradication of chemical and nuclear weapons;
• Managing the effects of natural disasters and climate change;
• Refugee crisis and protection of human rights.

Amy Spar shared this photo of the Ada High School band performing in its recent competition.

Yes, the leaves will fall again this year and, yes, the village leaf pickup will begin soon. Members of the Ada street department will begin collecting leaves late next week. To some, raking is a chore to others it’s a rite of fall in Ada, a time to find the most colorful leaves and get exercise or, for children and dogs, a time to jump into a pile of brown, gold, and red leaves.

Trophies await the winners of tonight’s Ada Kiwanis Club costume contest and parade. Registration is at 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot behind the City Building. The parade heads to the Railroad Depot at 6 p.m. where winners will be announced.

ADA - Struggling Ada will attempt to finish the 2018 season on a high note by continuing its dominance over backyard league rival Allen East this Friday.

But extending their 13-game win string over the traditional foe Mustangs will be a tough task on the road for the Bulldogs, who enter the fray having lost five in a row by an average of 41 points a game.

AE (4-5, 3-3 NWC) competed hard but fell at home to co-league leader Columbus Grove in week nine by a 28-14 score, but will be fired up to end their long losing skid to the rival Bulldogs. CG defeated Ada 56-7 in week six.
