Bulldog netters throttle LCC
By Cort Reynolds
ADA - The Ada tennis team dismissed Lima Central Catholic 4-1 Monday evening.
The Bulldog netters improved to 6-2 with the win, while LCC fell to 2-6 after the defeat.
Ada swept all three singles matches without losing a game to post the routine win over the Thunderbirds.
Cade Mullins and Isaac Spar each improved to 6-1 this season with double-bagel victories at first and second singles, respectively.
Miranda Wills improved her record to 6-2 with another 12-game sweep at third singles.
Gabe Hasan and Dexter Woods combined to win in straight sets at first doubles.
"We picked up a nice win to start the week off on a good note," said head coach Cody Hurley. "Singles was pretty straightforward as we didn't drop a game.
"Gabe and Dexter played well in a one-sided match at first doubles," he continued. "Reece Evans and Morgan Swick had a solid start, but lost momentum in the second set (in second doubles).
"They ended up having match points at 9-8 and 10-9, but LCC came up with some incredible shots to turn the match in their favor in the (10-point) super-tiebreaker to win 12-10.
"Hats off to Coach Bruin for pioneering his doubles team to play bold tennis at the end of the match," Hurley added.
