Ada girls sink Vikings

The visiting Ada softball team stymied Leipsic 7-1 in a non-league game Wednesday evening.
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 8-7 with their first road victory of the season in five tries.
Sophomore hurler Leona Dalton improved to 8-6 by earning her third consecutive victory. She held the Vikings scoreless until the home seventh.
Dalton struck out seven, walked two and gave up just four aingles with no earned runs in her complete-game win.
Ada scored two runs in the top of the first inning, then plated five runs in the second to build a commanding 7-0 lead.
Bulldog senior Raina England collected three hits, scored twice, swiped one base and drove in one run. Sophomore Kiersten Cortez amassed three hits, three runs batted in and scored a run. Cortez also stole a pair of bases.
Senior leadoff batter Alexis Ennis had two hits, one stolen base and scored two runs.
Viking Caitlen Flick singled and tallied the lone Leipsic run in their final at bat. Jocelyn Hermiller struck out 10 in a losing effort on the rubber for Leipsic. She allowed six earned runs.
Ada out-hit Leipsic, 9-4.
The Bulldogs and Vikings each left six runners on base. Ada committed two errors compared to three miscues by Leipsic.

Ada (0-3 NWC, 7-3 home) hosts second-place perennial league power Crestview (9-2, 3-1 NWC) Thursday in a Northwest Conference contest.
