Dr. Lawrence Kuk among speakers at April 21 heroin issues seminar

The Ohio Northern University Department of History, Politics and Justice, in conjunction with the ONU Public Interest Law Association, will host a seminar focusing on heroin issues on Saturday, April 21.

The event, a part of ONU’s Civil Engagement Series, will begin at 8:30 a.m. in ONU’s Pettit College of Law. The event is free and open to the public. Lunch will be provided.

Dr. Lawrence Kuk, Hardin County coroner, physician at Ada Area Family Practice and ONU student physician, and Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart will discuss Hardin County’s heroin issues.

Blanchard Valley Health Systems service of remembrance April 22

The 11th annual BVHS Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 120 W. Sandusky Street in Findlay on Sunday, April 22, at 2 p.m.

The non-denominational memorial service will honor BVHS patients and residents who died in 2011. All are welcome to attend the service, which will be followed by a reception.

Bone marrow drive in Ada April 20

Ohio Northern University will host a bone marrow drive on the campus’s “Tundra,” just south of the English Chapel, on Friday, April 20, from 6-10 p.m.

The procedure is free and consists of a cheek swab and some paperwork to place participants on the national registry. Every registrant will be entered into a raffle for prizes donated by local businesses. The first 150 registrants also will receive a free T-shirt.

Saturday car wash to send local dancers to Outback Bowl

Students from Ada's Rhythm In Motion Dance Centre will hold a car wash Saturday to help raise money for their upcoming New Year's Day trip to perform in the pre-game and half-time festivities for the Outback Bowl. 

The car wash will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Padrone's Pizza, at the corner of West Ballard Avenue and South Main Street. Students will wash and accept donations to help earn money towards their expenses for this trip.

Heavy equipment

Street work in Ada continues this month. The work is now west of the Lincoln and Union Street intersection. Watch the video of the project on the bottom of the home page.
