Public library opens search for new director

The Ada Public Library board has announced its search for a new director to replace Michael Limer, who recently took a positilon in another library.

According to Sharon Music, director of the library board, the position requires an accredited MLS/MLIS degree and the deadline for applications to be accepted is May 11.

5th annual ride for little readers poker run May 5

This year's Ada Public Library Imagination Library 5th Annual Ride for Little Readers Poker Run has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 5.

The event starts and ends at the Forest VFW Hall at 204 W. Lima St. Registration begins at 10 a.m. with the first bike out at 11 a.m. All riders must be back by 4 p.m.

Proceeds go to purchase books for Hardin County children. Donation: Drivers $10, Riders $5. For more information call Annetta at 419-675-1860 or Mike at 419-674-3683.

"The Tiger's Wife" book discussion Tuesday at the library

The next book discussion by the Ada Public Library centers on the book "The Tiger's Wife," by Téa Obreht. The discussion is held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, in the library.

Brief summary
In a Balkan country mending from war, Natalia, a young doctor, is compelled to unravel the mysterious circumstances surrounding her beloved grandfather’s recent death. Searching for clues, she turns to his worn copy of The Jungle Book and the stories he told her of his encounters over the years with “the deathless man.” But most extraordinary of all is the story her grandfather never told her—the legend of the tiger’s wife.

Here is a photograph from Lindsley's Art Gallery, Ada, which states on the front "finest enamel finish." The subject is Fred Hahn and the photo was probably taken at his 16th birthday, which dates this photo close to 1892. The Hahn family lived in Ada, where his parents had a bakery.
