Ashley Ochsenhirt and Noah Elliott have been named Tennis Players of the Week.
Senior Ashley Ochsenhirt (Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian) has been tabbed the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the March 4-10.
Last week, Ochsenhirt posted a perfect 9-0 record in five matches during the women's tennis program's Spring Break trip to the Los Angeles, California region. In addition, the senior registered her 100th career victory with an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles against El Camino (Calif.) CC.
In singles action, the Birmingham, Alabama native went 4-0 at the No. 1 slot, including a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Rio Hondo's (Calif.) Jane Quach.
She went on to win two matches at No. 1 doubles and three contests at No. 2 doubles for a perfect 5-0 mark.
With last week's results, the senior currently stands at 21-8 overall on the season. She is tied for first on the team with a 13-3 doubles record and sits fourth in singles wins with an 8-5 mark.
Ochsenhirt is now 101-39 in three seasons at Ohio Northern after transferring from Mississippi College following her freshman campaign.
The announcement marks the first time this season and sixth time in her career that Ochsenhirt has been named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week. She received the award on three occasions as a sophomore and twice as a junior during the 2018-19 campaign.
Freshman Noah Elliott (Hilliard/Davidson) has been dubbed the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Last week, Elliott compiled a perfect 10-0 record in five dual matches, guiding the Polar Bears to a 3-2 mark over the program's annual Spring Break trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Due to his efforts, ONU defeated Randolph (Va.) 9-0, Bridgewater (Va.) 8-1, and Roanoke (Va.) 9-0 over the week-long excursion.
In singles play, the freshman posted four victories in the No. 2 slot and a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Randolph's Brandon Braud on the No. 3 singles court. Meanwhile, Elliott teamed up with sophomore Vinh Thai (Galloway/St. Charles) for three victories at No. 1 doubles and sophomore Hoang Do (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) for two more wins in No. 2 doubles action.
With his performances, Elliott now leads the team with a 9-4 singles record, an 8-2 doubles mark, and a 17-6 overall record this season.
The announcement marks the second time Elliott has received the honor in the 2018-19 campaign, having also been tabbed Player of the Week on February 18.
