Ashton Stevenson recipient of this year's University Club II scholarship

Hardin Northern High School graduate Ashton Stevenson, a senior at West Virginia University with a double major in Forestry Resource Management and Recreation, Parks and Tourism Resources, is the recipient of the Unversity Club II 2019 scholarship.

Ashton has a 3.68 grade point average and is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars at West Virginia University.

Other activities include a WVU Davis College Ambassador for three years, treasurer of the College Professional Recreation and Parks Society for two years, vice president of the WVU Woodsmen/Timbersports Team and chair of the WVU Intramural Teams Committee for two years.

Ashton has served as a tour guide and carriage driver with the Carriages of Acadia National Park, worked as a forestry technician crewmember at Bridger-Teton National Forest and worked as an intern in the care and management of the natural areas at the Hancock Park District Natural Resources.

Ashton’s goals after graduation are to secure a “permanent job in the natural resources field” and to “keep a positive attitude and strive to work to the best of my ability everyday.”

She said that natural resources is her “passion” and likes to share her love of the natural world with everyone.

Ashton is the daughter of Keith and Carla Stevenson of Dunkirk.
