The Alger Memorial Festival Committee is sponsoring a country-style breakfast on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 7 to 11 a.m.
Serving biscuits, sausage gravy, hash-browns, scrambled eggs, fried apples, sausage patties and beverage. Suggested donation is $7. All-you-can-eat (on premises only).

With all the makings of a small-town evening out, Ada residents enjoyed Music on Main Friday night at the downtown depot park.

Elements of the evening included a Kiwanis Club chicken barbecue and live music by Common Thread - with Kevin Plaugher, Ada native.
The evening also included free ice cream from Dietsch's - your choice, chocolate or vanilla. There were a half-dozen local vendors displaying and selling their products inside the depot and some V-8 cars on display that love to chug gas.
Several downtown businesses were open, including Ada's newest, Gallery of the Arts.
Every car has a story and Eleanor is no exception.
Eleanor is the pet name of this 54-year-old Ada beauty.
This 1961 Dodge Pioneer, a Division of Doge Dart, was on display in the Ada railroad depot park during Friday's Music on Main.
Eleanor has a push button transmission. That means that instead of a gear, the driver simply pushed a button to shift.
Of course, this Pioneer is equipped with a V-8 engine, a 318. That means it will outrun most cars on the road today. The bad news is its gas mileage. However, it was built in the days of 35 cents a gallon gas, so gas money wasn't much of a consideration.
Summer Reading is only as successful as the efforts of all involved; we recognize and appreciate the Ada Schools and Chanda Smith, School Librarian, in their willingness to let us come in and talk-up Summer Reading with the kids. We are truly grateful for the dedication of the individuals and families who signed up and stuck out Summer Reading, their commitment to reading and infectious excitement for the programs AND the prizes. And I personally appreciate and recognize all the efforts of the library staff, especially Ms. Natalie, who's tireless energy and dedication to education and fun was a huge part of its success!
