Ada council will address legislation to authorize the seeking of bids for the Ada municipal building elevator and rehabilitation project at its Tuesday, Jan. 15, meeting.
Should that legislation move forward, here is the anticipated project timeline:
• Jan. 15 – Legislation authorizing to seek bids
• Feb. 1 and Feb. 8 – Advertise for bids
• Feb. 20 – Pre-bid meeting
• March 6 – Bid opening, council chambers, 10 a.m.
• March 19 – With TDG (Technical Design Group) recommendation and if needed, pre-award meeting
• Mid-April – Begin construction with approximate five-months of construction
• End of September – Completion
At the Jan. 8 meeting council’s building and grounds committee shared information about the project. That included reviewing construction costs, plans and specifications, schedule and legislation, bids and construction. Council also reviewed funding for the project.
Jamie Hall, village administrator, told council on Jan. 8 that the current construction estimate (dated Jan. 3) is considerably higher than the June 18, 2018 estimate.
He said that the estimated cost is now closer to the $700,0000 budget presented to council.
“On the current estimate is a cost of $77,341 for architectural and engineering fees,” he said. “We budgeted $70,000 for that expense in 2018 and will carry over the open purchase order into 2019.”
“That should be deducted from the total estimated cost for the project,” he added.
Below are estimates from June 2018 and January 2019.
