First graders like Warhol

Visitors to Ada elementary will see lots of handprints on the walls. According to art teacher Kristie Steiner, the handprint art is the work of first graders.  "We were making art inspired by the artist Andy Warhol," she told the Icon. "Students were asked to paint paper using paint rollers for the background, then trace and cut their own handprints out, and then place the actual handprint over top to finish them. They turned out great and the first grade worked very hard on them."
