Music on Main returns to the Depot Friday night

The Buy Ada First committee is hosting its second Music on Main event at downtown Ada this summer.

The Music on Main event is from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 12, at the Depot Park. Music will be provided by Kevin Plaugher – from the group Common Thread and WONB-94.9 FM, which includes music from the 1950s to today.

The Ada Kiwanis Club will hold a pre-sale Harlan’s chicken barbecue dinner during the event at the Depot Parking lot. Dinners are $7.50 and include one-half barbecue chicken, baked beans and applesauce. Drinks will also be available.

Only one month away - Farmers and Merchants celebration 100th picnic

It’s one month away – the 100th anniversary of the Ada Farmers and Merchants Picnic. The two-day event at the War Memorial Park takes place Friday and Saturday, Aug. 9-10.

Ohio Northern University to host prosecutor’s workshop on principles of forensic DNA

Ohio Northern University will host a prosecutor’s workshop, focusing on the principles of forensic DNA analysis, from July 28-30.

This 2.5-day event is designed for officers of the court who want to further their knowledge of the tests conducted daily by forensic DNA analysts. Participants will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a forensics training facility at ONU. Guest speakers will discuss the various areas of DNA analysis, from the lab to inside the courtroom.

Hardin Farm Bureau summer party a big hit

Hardin Summer Party was a hit!

Over 100 Farm Bureau members recently attended the annual Summer Party that was held on the Hardin County Fairgrounds in the community building.

Waldo Scott was the oldest member in attendance at 94 years. Eric and Stephanie Trachsel had the largest immediate family, Greg and Carrie Sampson had the youngest child and Council # 36 had the best council attendance.

Mark Badertscher, the new Hardin County Extension agent, was in attendance and welcomed to the community.

Homemade ice cream and cookies were enjoyed while members played Bingo.  A candy scramble, cake walk and other games were also played.
