Trick or Treat night in Ada is October 26

The Village of Ada has announced that Trick or Treat will be on October 26 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

5th Quarter offers homecoming activities, inside and out

Ada High School alumni are included in the invitation to 5th Quarter activities for Homecoming on Friday, September 25.

Coordinator Amber Simon makes the pitch: "ADA ALUMNI! Have you heard of our 5th Quarters and it makes you miss our days of hanging out at Hardee’s after the game? This is your moment! Come and bring the family to see how these kids do 5th Quarter! This is completely free to you."

Buckeye East coffee shop, 123 E Buckeye Ave., will be roping off the parkig lot for a bounce house, Gaga Ball pit, alumni friends grilling hot dogs, and karaoke. Indoors there will be traditional 5th Quarter activities: pizzas, prizes, snacks and music.

There will be adults monitoring all areas and making sure kids stay on the property. Only 6th-12th graders should be dropped off. Alumni that bring younger children must stay and be responsible for them.

State issues 2022-2023 report cards for schools

Ada Schools receive overall rating of 4/5 stars

On September 15, the Ohio Department of Education released detailed 2022-2023 school report cards for individual schools and for school districts, which can be accessed HERE. New in 2023, Ohio schools will receive overall ratings of 1-5 stars in half-star increments. The report cards include five rated components as well as other data.

Michelle Lynette Burkett worked for Wilson Sporting Goods

Michelle Lynette Burkett, age 68, of Alger, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 2:15 a.m. at her residence, surrounded by her family. 

She was born on May 20, 1955, in Lima, Ohio to the late Byron and June (Houchins) Osborn. On April 24, 1975, Michelle married James Burkett and he survives in Alger.

Scout Troop 124 flag raisers

Ada Boy Scouts from Troop 124 raised the American flag during the singing of the National Anthem at Harvest & Herb Festival ceremonies on September 16. Stay tuned for more photos and coverage of the event.

Bulldog volleyball 2nd at C-R Invite

Andreasen passes 1,000-assist mark

The Ada High School volleyball team finished an impressive second at the eight-team Cory-Rawson Invitational tournament Saturday, September 16.

The Bulldogs won two of three matches to improve their record to 9-5 following their tournament runner-up finish.

In the first round, Ada beat Temple Christian easily 25-12, 25-8.

In the semifinals, the Bulldogs rallied to defeat Holgate 21-25, 25-20, 25-21. Senior setter Autumn Andreasen passed out 29 helpers to surpass the 1,000-assist barrier for her career in the match.

In the championship bout against Van Buren, Ada won the first set 25-23, but then ran out of gas and lost 25-15, 25-10.

Against TC, the versatile Andreasen passed out 11 assists, made two kills, mustered five digs, served two aces and came up with a block.
