Todd A. Risner worked for Graphic Packaging

UPDATED November 19 with funeral arrangements.

Todd Allen Risner, age 55, of Kenton, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at OhioHealth Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton. 

Thomas E. Dearth was a teacher and served in the Ohio National Guard

Thomas E. Dearth, age 81, of Ada, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. 

He was born to the late Jasper and Aezelda (Robnolte) Dearth on February 21, 1942 in Ada, Ohio. Tom married Janice A. Elwood on May 8, 1965 she survives in Ada. 

A story about a woman who voted in 1915

The 19th amendment guaranteed all American women the right to vote on Aug. 1920.

Despite that date, a brief notation in my grandmother’s diary reads: “I went to vote and Margaret and Florence went with me. Margaret is one year old, Nov. 2, 1915.”

The note with the 1915 date confused me. I knew that women did not receive their constitutional right to vote until the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified.

So, how could she vote in 1915?

Freshman Emily Seckel leads Women's Bowling

(November 12) KETTERING — Freshman Emily Seckel (Marion/Pleasant) led the Ohio Northern women's bowling team to a 15th place finish at the 16-team Roto Grip Wright State Raider Classic at the Poelking Woodman Lanes Saturday and Sunday.
