Money for kids’ shoes, if you qualify
The Hardin County Department of Job and Family Services announced today they will be launching a countywide back to school shoe program for eligible Hardin County families begin Monday, July 23.
To be eligible families must reside in Hardin County, have children enrolled in grades K-12 and at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. For a family of four, that’s right around $50,000 a year,” stated John Folk, Hardin County JFS Director.
Families or children who are determined to be eligible for the program will receive a voucher for $50 per child from Job & Family Services for shoes. Participating stores include Shoe Sensation, Peebles and Reichert’s. Only those stores in Hardin County are participating and accepting the vouchers.
Applications can be picked up and returned between Monday, July 23 and Thursday, August 2 at Hardin County Job and Family Services, 175 W. Franklin St., Suite 150, Kenton. All verification will need to be returned within ten days of the application date.
Applicant will receive a phone call notifying them if they have been approved or denied and vouchers for those approved for the program will be available for pick up from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.Mondaythrough Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, through August 13. Vouchers must be redeemed by August 15.
