Ada Bulldog golfers down Spartans

By Cort Reynolds

BLUFFTON – The Ada High School boys golf team defeated Lima Senior convincingly in a dual match Wednesday evening at the Bluffton Golf Course.

Ada improved to 6-4 this season with a decisive 205-235 win.

Sophomore Brody Rister and senior Ethan Lawrence tied for Bulldog team honors as they both shot a back nine score of 48.

“It was a beautiful, busy evening on the course,” said Ada head coach Kurt Klingler. “Brody and Ethan played well. We still have a little work to do with chipping and putting.

“Too many three-putts or missed birdie and par putts. We will keep working,” he added.

An 1898 textbook owned by W.J. Bowden has connected a Youngstown thrift store shopper with Ada Ohio Historical Society members on Facebook. Danielle Stoner reached out for information and with the help of Beth Gray learned that Stoner was an Ohio Northern University student who studied under Professor JB Gregg.

Bowden's notes in cursive include the price of the book (95 cents), biographical information about Galileo and Isaac Newton, and his "natural philopsophy" grades.
