Harold E. Newland, 89, died on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 4:18 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born on January 12, 1928 in Alger, Ohio to Ora and Ethel (Dear) Newland
who preceded him in death. He married Dorothy J. Dulebohn on October 9, 1954 who also preceded him in death on May 16, 2007.
Harold was a graduate of the Alger High School in 1945, and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He worked for the Shell Oil Company for 35 years where he retired in 1986. He attended the Lima Trinity Wesleyan Church.
He is survived by two sons: David (Amy) Newland of Harrod and Glenn (Linnett) Newland of Huntsville; three daughters: Anita (Steve) Ernest of Harrod, Constance (Kevin) Augsburger of Lima and Ruthann (Calvin) Russell of Alger; four grandchildren: Stacey Newland, Shelby Newland, Reese Newland, and Rylee Newland; and one great-grandson: Kegan Newland; one sister, Alice Hayhurst, of Lima; and a special nephew, Buddy Kohl of Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
Harold was preceded in death by two brothers: infant , Norman Newland and Theodore Newland; three sisters: Evelyn Blanchard, Theora Smith and Dolores Rose.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Rev. Eric T. Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call Tuesday, September 5, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home Alger, and until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
