ONU volleyball win streak now at 5 games

The Ohio Northern volleyball team ran its winning streak to five matches with a 25-23, 25-22, 25-22 victory at Denison Tuesday evening at Livingston Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears improve to 9-1 on the season with the win, while the Big Red falls to 8-2 with the loss.

Unofficially, freshman Ellie Gillespie had six kills and junior Kristen Davidson added five kills for ONU.

More details will be added later when they become available.

The Polar Bears will return to action Friday and Saturday when they travel to the Wittenberg Classic for four matches.

ONU musical director to guest conduct Lima Symphony, renowned tenor Ronan Tynan

 

Lloyd Butler, Ohio Northern University resident artist, musical director of the musical theatre program and director of the Freed Center Orchestra, will serve as guest conductor when the Lima Symphony Orchestra performs with tenor Ronan Tynan at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio (NPAC) in Van Wert on Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m.

This performance is part of NPAC’s Gala V Celebration weekend, which commemorates the fifth anniversary of the opening of the center. The weekend’s special guest is Tynan, a former member of the Irish Tenors known for his unique voice and irresistible appeal.

Thorarensen scores game winner as No. 20 Women's Soccer defeats Ohio Wesleyan

Sophomore Sandra Thorarensen knocked in the game winning goal in the first overtime to lift the No. 20 Ohio Northern women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory against Ohio Wesleyan Wednesday evening at Ohio Northern Soccer Field.

Ohio Northern maintains their undefeated season with a record of 3-0-2, while the Battling Bishops fall to 2-3-0.
Ohio Wesleyan got on the scoreboard first in the 42nd minute of the first half as Sara Lawrence put one into the upper left corner of the goal.  The goal was unassisted.

Early in the second half, ONU tied it up at 1-1 with a well placed shot by sophomore Kristina Klusek.

Ada Music Boosters invite support for 35th annual music feast

The Ada Music Boosters recently contacted members of the local business community to ask for support for program ad sales and trophy sponsorship opportunities for the 35th Annual Ada Music Feast Show Choir Invitational Competition.

The event will be held at Ada High School on Nov.10. One-eighth, one-quarter, one-half and full page ads are available, as well as, trophy sponsorships for both preliminary and finals competition at this day-long event, which annually brings thousands of spectators to the local community.

Sing, dance and move at the Harvest & Herb Festival

 

Come sing, dance, play instruments and make music as a family during the Harvest & Herb Festival. 

Vicki’s Music Studio will offer 4 class demonstrations throughout the festival where families of young children, babies – 9 years old, are invited to participate in a 20-30 minute class session at 9 am, 11 am, 2 pm or 3 pm.  Classes will be held in the front room of Body Works, located at 121 S. Main Street.  Simply come with your family on the hour of your desired time - ready to move and make music!
