Erik David Neeley, age 21, died on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at 1:43 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born on May 8, 1996 in Lima, Ohio to Dan and Allis L. (Smith) Neeley Jr. who survive in Harrod.
Erik worked as a mechanic for Dan’s Industrial Truck Service. He was a graduate of Allen East High School class of 2015 and had attended The Ohio State University, Lima Campus. Erik played for the American Legion Baseball Team in Sidney. Erik loved his family and friends and really enjoyed spending his time with his nieces. His hobbies included: hunting, fishing and playing sports. Erik had fun enjoying his life and spending time with Elaney, his family and friends.
Also surviving are his siblings: Dan (Brittani) Neeley of Harrod and Jeanette Neeley and Brian Hensley of Jackson Center; paternal grandfather and step grandmother, Dan Neeley Sr. and Irene Neeley of Lancaster; maternal grandmother, Donna Jacobson of Racine, WI; maternal step grandmother, Arlene Smith of Racine, WI; paternal aunts: Sandra (Marvin) Weaver of Lima, Diana Smith and Robert of Texas and Delaree (Bruce) Basil of Westminster; paternal uncle, Jerry (Jenny) Neeley of Dayton; maternal uncles: Robert Smith and Vanessa of Columbus, MT and Mike (D.J.) Durant of Milwaukee, WI; maternal aunt, Tina Giovannoni and Michael Hauglie of Kenosha, WI; maternal uncle, Scott Smith of Portland, OR; maternal uncle, Peter (Janet) Smith of Milwaukee, WI; and maternal aunt, Cheryl (Jason) Vorwald of Milwaukee, WI; five nieces: Jaylynn Curtis of Jackson Center, Marjorie and Charlotte Neeley of Harrod, and Mikayla and Kaydence Hensley of Jackson Center. Erik is also survived by his girlfriend, Elaney May Overs of Alger. He is also survived by several cousins and great aunts and uncles.
Erik was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Marjorie Neeley; maternal grandfather, David Smith; maternal step grandfather, Eugene Giovannoni; maternal aunt, Peggy Sue Smith; and paternal cousin, Tra Manns.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at County Line Church of the Brethren, 4227 North Hardin Road, Harrod, Ohio 45850 with Pastor Brandon Wireman officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family for the education fund for Erik’s nieces.
