Flag Day in Ada
By Monty Siekerman
Wednesday is Flag Day. What does the day conjure up for you? Freedom, sacrifice, pride?
During the past few years, the Ada Icon has featured homes in the village where the flag is displayed. Since the photos are taken a few days before Flag Day, these residences normally fly the flag continuously.
This year the Icon features institutions, both public and private, and one manufacturing facility. There were three homes we couldn't pass up, so they are included, too.
The flag was adopted by resolution on June 14, 1777, by the Second Continental Congress (remember your history text?). The first Flag Day was proclaimed by the President on June 14, 1916.
Go to the bottom of this story for this year's collection of Old Glory flying proudly in Ada.
