Mitchell Wilcox would prefer to be swimming

15 minutes with Mitchell Wilcox, Ada High School sophomore

Note: Mitchell recently competed in the Ohio High School Athletic Association state swim meet in Canton. Watch the Ada Icon for a story on Ada’s team results at the state meet.

Mitchell, tell me what classes you are taking this semester.
Advance English, U.S. History, Algebra II, Chemistry, Ceramics II and Computer Tech. I’m also a member of the swim, cross country and track teams.

What would you like to do after high school?
My goal at the moment is to attend the University of Florida and compete in swimming.

William Pope retired from ONU Food Service Department.

William R. Pope, 83, died at 1:55 a.m. Feb. 23, 2013, at Hardin Hills Health Center, Kenton.

He was born Oct. 7, 1929, in Hardin County to William H. and Nellie Gillen Pope, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Pope retired from the Food Service Department at Ohio Northern University in 1992 after working there for 20 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

Survivors include two brothers, James Pope, of Alger, and Joseph Pope, of Ada; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Richard Pope; and three sisters, Mary Shepherd, Doris VanDyke and Lucille Newland.
