Doris C. Miller Schneider, 95, of Lima, died 2:40 a.m., Mon. May 22, 2017, at home surrounded by her family. She was born June 6, 1921, in Lima, the daughter of Lawrence A. & Edna C. (Schlosser) Clark, who preceded her in death. On May 23, 1943, she married Marvin L. Miller, and he died April 6, 1985. Then on Oct. 28, 1997, she married Arlington C. "Arlie" Schneider, and he died Oct. 6, 2004.
Survivors include: 2 daughters, Deanna (Joe) Smith of Lima, and Susan (Jim) Harrod of Harrod, OH; a son-in-law, Doug Clark of Sarcoxie, MO; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren & 10 great great grandchildren; siblings: Pat (Penny) Clark of Lima and Mary Preston of Alger; a sister-in-law, Wava Clark of New Richmond, WI; 3 step-children: Greg (Vickie) Schneider of Botkins, Deb (Mark) Egbert of Botkins, andMarcia (John) McJunkin of St. Marys, OH; a step-daughter-in-law, Susan Schneider of Botkins; 12 step-grandchildren & 17 step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Clark; siblings & spouses, Naomi (Carl) Smith, Roger (Esther Mae) Clark, Don Clark, Jim (Iris) Clark, Mildred (Charles) Alspaugh; a brother-in-law, Robert Preston; and a step-son-in-law, Gary Schneider.
Doris was co-owner of Miller's Sohio, Harrod. She later worked in the Hospitality Shop at Lima Memorial Hospital, and Clem's Bakery, Lima. She also volunteered at Lima Memorial Hospital. She attended Harrod Christian Church and was a graduate of Alger High School. Doris enjoyed working in her flower beds, garden, and raising chickens. She loved to read and winter in Florida. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother, and she dearly loved her family.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Fri. May 26, at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Pastor Gary Rummel officiating. There will, also, be a celebration of life included for her daughter, Nancy K. Clark, who passed away April 20, 2017, in Joplin, MO. Burial is to follow in the Preston Cemetery, Alger.
The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Thurs. at the funeral home.
