Joe Edward Patton 1928-2017
Joe Edward Patton, age 89, died on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 6:07pm at Birchaven Nursing Home, Findlay
He was born on February 12, 1928 in Hueysville, Kentucky to M.F. and Pearlie (Prater) Patton. His parents preceded him in death, his step-mother, Dorsie Patton survives in Eastern, KY. On December 31, 1945 Joe married Earnesteen Hicks and she preceded him in death on December 13, 1992. He later married A. McDowell and she preceded him in death.
Joe retired from Clark Equipment in Lima after working for 30 years. He also worked for 10 years as a custodian at the Findlay Mall. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Old Regular Baptist Church, McGuffey. Joe loved people and loved to go to garage sales and flea markets where he collected marbles and antiques. He enjoyed the Senior Center in Findlay.
He is survived by two sons: Michael Patton of Lexington, KY and Bruce (Stacy) Patton of Lima; a daughter, Judy Wells of Findlay; five grandchildren: : Gary (Kelly) Wells, Amy Wells Wilkinson, Gabrielle (Daniel) Rex, Allison Patton and Brandon Patton; seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; a brother, Gary (Amanda) Patton of Lansing, MI; five sisters: Pauline Layne of Martin, KY, Sally Lou (John) Bailey of TX, Cliffie (Danny) Wooten of Ypsilanti, MI, Martha Lee Collins of Ypsilanti, MI and Barbara (Brian) Gross of Fenton, MI; and three half sisters: Patricia (Bill) Price of Kendallville, IN, Faye Baldridge of Eastern, KY and Debbie (Rex) Cecil of David, KY.
He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 30, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Terry McBeath officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, March 29, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice Care at 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay, Ohio 45840.
