Ada, Ohio recognized as a 2024 Tree City USA

The Arbor Day Foundation has named Ada, Ohio a 2024 Tree City USA in honor of its commitment to plant, grow and maintain trees to benefit its community.

To earn Tree City USA recognition, a city must uphold four core standards including maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry and participating in an Arbor Day celebration.

ONU launches Rocketry Club

Ohio Northern University’s T.J. Smull College of Engineering has launched an exciting new competition team—the ONU Rocketry Club. Ada council seeks community feedback on proposed ordinance

Regulations and permits considered for transient businesses including mobile food vendors

At the March 18 Village of Ada council meeting, a proposed ordinance was tabled regarding establishing requirements and regulations for transient businesses and vendors, mobile food vendors and food trucks operating within the Village of Ada. Council member Bob Simmons commented that he would like to see community input on the topic and a tabling motion was approved by the other members.

Bluffton Hospital acquires new skin tightening technology

Bluffton Hospital, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, has recently acquired a Renuvion Surgical System Standards Apyx One Console.

The technology streamlines the process of plastic surgeries, making it possible for many patients to have a procedure to tighten skin added to their surgery rather than having to schedule a second surgery later.

3rd annual Craft & Vendor Show at USV High School

The Upper Scioto Valley Performing Arts Boosters will host the third annual Craft & Vendor Show on Saturday, March 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Upper Scioto Valley High School, 510 S. Courtright Street, McGuffey.

The parent-led organization works to support the elementary music, middle and high school bands, middle and high school choirs and the drama program at Upper Scioto Valley Schools. The Craft & Vendor Show is the main fundraising event of the year for these programs.

March 26 Community Meal at St. Mark Lutheran

St. Mark Lutheran Church--located at the corner of Lincoln and Johnson Streets in Ada--will be holding it's free community meal on Wednesday, March 26, from 5 to 6:30, or until they run out. 

This month's menu consist of pulled pork (not a sandwich), macaroni and cheese, cole slaw, fruit, and cookie.  As usual, you may dine in, carry out, or drive up for curb side service. 

It is asked that if you will require more than eight meals, please call 419-792-0911 by noon on Tuesday so there is enough to go around. 

Free and open to the public.
