Law college alumnus to discuss challenges of defending attorneys
Robert Klein, a 1976 graduate of the Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law, will discuss the difficulties in defending attorneys during a talk at noon on Sept. 29 in the college’s moot courtroom.
The talk, “Defending Attorneys in the Courtroom: Lessons Learned from 40 Years of Jury Selection,” is free and open to the public. It is part of the ONU Dean’s Law Lecture series.
Klein, a managing partner with Klein Glasser Park & Lowe in Miami, Fla., will draw on his experiences and share the challenges of defending attorneys in professional liability claims before a jury as well as disciplinary matters before state boards.
He will focus on both the good and bad aspects of these types of situations, including the public perception of attorneys and common responses from prospective jurors.
Further, Klein also will share his insights on how attorneys are viewed, which may surprise many individuals.
Professionally, Klein has tried more than 150 jury trials and 40 legal malpractice cases. He is principally involved in the defense of complex professional liability cases, insurance coverage and bad faith litigation as well as corporate and commercial litigation.
He has extensive experience in class action litigation involving insurance coverage, underwriting, and rate and premium matters.
“Robert Klein brings a wealth of practical experience to this discussion. He is a fantastic trial lawyer who has made a career out of dealing with the myriad and often colorful ways that attorneys get themselves into trouble. His presentation will be both informative and entertaining,” said ONU Professor of Law Rick Bales, who arranged Klein’s visit. “I am very much looking forward to it.”
The speaker is one of several College of Law alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professional pursuits.
