Stromback and Glischinski are Clyde Lamb Award winners at ONU

Ohio Northern seniors Taryn Stromback (Osseo, Minn.) and Ben Glischinski(Maineville) have been named recipients of the prestigious 2015-16 Clyde Lamb Award.

The Clyde A. Lamb Awards are named in honor of the man who organized the Department of Health and Physical Education at Ohio Northern in 1929.

He served as coach, department chairman and athletics director at ONU from 1929-64.

Criteria for the award include at least two year's participation in an Ohio Athletic Conference-sponsored sport, senior status, a minimum grade point average of 3.00 and sportsmanlike conduct in a manner that has brought credit to the student-athlete and his/her institution.

Each of the league's 10 schools award the honor to their top male and female student-athletes.

Stromback, a member of the women's tennis team, is a four time All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree with a career record of 145-44, ranking her fourth all-time in ONU career wins history.

She is also a three time Academic All-OAC recipient and was a member of the NCAA Management Council.

The senior led the the Polar Bears last season with a 35-7 overall record posting a perfect 16-0 record in OAC play. 

She finishes her career with a 62-26 singles record and an impressive 83-18 doubles record.

The women's tennis team posted a 19-4 overall record 7-1 mark in the conference, posting the programs sixth consecutive winning season.

Glischinski, a pitcher on the ONU baseball team, recieved his third All-Ohio Athletic Conference accolade in 2016.

He is a three time Academic All-OAC recipient and a four-year varsity letter winner as a member of the baseball team.

Ben was a vital part of the ONU pitching staff, finishing his career with a 9-7 overall record and one save.

He recorded 158.2 innings of work, posting a 3.06 ERA on the bump for the Polar Bears.

With a 21-16 overall record 9-9 mark in the conference, the baseball team posted its third consecutive winning season under fifth-year head coach Gene Stechschulte.
