Cardinal Health has awarded the Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy a $113,000 grant to provide increased support for current and future pharmacy students with an interest in community and independent pharmacy.
Ohio Northern was chosen as a recipient based on its commitment to advancing the independent pharmacy profession. The College of Pharmacy’s core curriculum, combined with its experiential learning and student-run organizations, provide unique, focused opportunities to educate students interested in independent pharmacy.
Ohio Northern’s local chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) has consistently been recognized as a top chapter in the country.
Steven J. Martin, dean of the Raabe College of Pharmacy, said, “We’re very appreciative of our longstanding partnership with Cardinal Health. This increase in funding from Cardinal Health will help us support students who will become future pharmacy owners as well as students with an entrepreneurial focus. We take a great deal of pride in our college’s history of preparing leaders who advance community-based pharmacy practice.”
“We understand the impact independent pharmacists have on their communities and the significant role they play in providing cost-effective care that improves patients’ health,” said Jon Giacomin, chief executive officer of Cardinal Health’s Pharmaceutical segment.
“Supporting future community pharmacy leaders through this scholarship program is an honor, and we continue to be inspired by the next generation of innovative, patient-focused pharmacy owners as they begin serving their communities.”
