Joe F. Fitzpatrick, 82, died on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, at 8:54 a.m. at his daughter’s residence in Forest, Ohio.
He was born on April 23, 1933, in Floyd County, Kentucky to Issac H. and Mahala (Neeley) Fitzpatrick who preceded him in death. Joe and his family moved to Ohio when he was nine years old, he lived in Ohio for 73 years. On Dec. 10, 1954, he married Betty Patterson and they celebrated 60 years together before Betty preceded him in death on March 29, 2015.
Joe was a self-employed brick mason. Joe and Betty worked hard together to build Fitzpatrick Masonary. He attended Harrod School. He was a former member of the Sager Masonic Lodge #513 of LaFayette F&AM. He was a member of the Ohio Square Campers. Joe and Betty loved to square dance and were members of the Hix & Chix square dance club.
Surviving is a son, Kevin (Carol) Fitzpatrick of Carlisle, Pa.; two daughters, Brenda (Rick) Clouse of Marysville and Chanda (Mark) Garmon of Forest; six grandchildren, Brant Fitzpatrick, Kelsey Garmon, Kendrick Garmon, Ryan Clouse, Mason Garmon, and Aubrey Clouse; two sisters: Darlene Tarr of Ada and Marjorie (Fred) Runser of St. Joe, Mich.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Robert, Woodrow, Eddie and Cletis Fitzpatrick; and two sisters: Maxine Hamilton and Jean Wolfley.
A funeral service will be held on 1 p.m. at Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Rev. David Trusty officiating. Burial will follow in Preston Cemetery, Alger, Ohio.
The family request to honor Joe that everyone wear jeans and flannel shirt for the funeral service.
Friends may call on 4 – 8 p.m. from Monday, Sept. 21, at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
A Masonic Memorial Service will conducted by the Sager Masonic Lodge of LaFayette and the Dunkirk Masonic Lodge on Monday beginning at 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alger Festival Committee.
