15 minutes with Morgan Sutton: sports injuries, a junior high detention, tee-peeing and more

15 minutes with Morgan Sutton – Ada High School senior

The Icon caught up with Morgan during her third period library helper time.

Tell us your class schedule.
I start out with Psychology, Algebra III, library study helper, English College Prep, Geology, study hall, Personal Finance and end the day with Physics.

What’s your favorite?
Probably English.

Next year’s plans?
I’d like to go to the University of Cincinnati and study nursing. I’m a people person and I’m interested in health care.

We understand you are a three-sport athlete.
I’m one of four captains on the volleyball team. I’m point guard in basketball and run distance in track.

Any sports injuries?
I had a torn shoulder ligament in junior high volleyball. I had two concussions in basketball and volleyball. Last year I had a stress fracture and only ran once in track.

Ouch!

If you could have a vanity license plate for your Chevy, how might it read?
Thinking. Probably MORG5. That’s my volleyball jersey number.

Tell us about your music interests.
I have probably 30 stations on Pandora. The group I listen to most depends on the day. I like hip-rap, rap and country.

Any group you usually hit “thumbs down” on?
I’m not a fan of Mac Miller.

Do you have detention stories in your closet?
In junior high I had my phone taken away from me in Science. I had my phone on vibrate and a telemarketer called me. I pulled out the phone and was caught. I could feel myself get red in the face.

That's one of the best detention stories we've ever heard! How about tee-peeing stories?
Probably in the 7th grade. I was with Alexis Amburgey, Tory Wyss, Tessa Coulson, Hailey Clum and probably others who I can’t recall.

We went to Mitchell Wilcox and Austin Dumbaugh. Alexis’ mom was driving us and to scare us she took off before we were finished. She eventually stopped and picked us up.

If you could take anyone to a restaurant in Ada – just the two of you – who might that be and where would you eat?
Beyonce’. I’ve liked her for a long time. We’d probably do to El Campo.

And, what movie are you really sorry that you took the time to watch. A stinker.
“The Invention of Lying.” I bought it on TV. I was probably 15. It was worthless.

Any advice to junior high students at Ada?
Get involved. Don’t get worked up over little things. Look at the bigger picture.

Thanks for talking with us and good luck this year in school.
