The Ohio Northern University Department of Music presents an instrumental ensembles concert in the Snyder Recital Hall in the Presser Building on Monday, April 13, at 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The ONU Brass Ensemble will perform “American Fanfare,” “Ave Maria,” and “Cazon Noni Toni.” The ONU Woodwind Choir will play Schubert’s “Symphony No. 5, Allegro” and “Woodwind Whirl.” The Flute Choir will present three entertaining numbers.
Ending the program is the ONU Percussion Ensemble performing a new transcription by Gabriel Cabanillas, a 2011 ONU graduate, called “Nombango,” a traditional South African melody on marimbas, and Mark Ford’s “Head’s Up,” written for five performers playing on a variety of drumheads. Georgia Snelling, a freshman engineering major from Findlay, Ohio, and Elizabeth Druesedow, a senior music performance major from Sharon Center, Ohio, will be featured in Tom Miller’s Brazilian-influenced piece for steel band trio and clarinet called “Chorinho pra Hop.”
