Gospel Ensemble performs in McIntosh April 12

The Ohio Northern University Gospel Ensemble, with special guests the Philippian Missionary Baptist Church Choir of Lima and the Toledo Youth Choir, will perform its annual spring concert in the Bear Cave in McIntosh Center on Sunday, April 12, at 4 p.m.

The concert is free and open to the public. The primary purpose of the ONU Gospel Ensemble is to spread the word of God through song, and its mission is “Winning souls to Christ with a melody.” The Ensemble was formed in 1987 by a group of African-American students who wanted to share their heritage through gospel music.

For the past 28 years, students, faculty and staff from various ethnic backgrounds and races have shared their musical talents to keep the melodies flowing. The ONU Gospel Ensemble presents contemporary gospel music, much of which is sung a cappella. In addition to its annual spring concert, the Ensemble travels to several local and area churches throughout the year to uplift the congregations of many local churches.

Dr. Adriane Thompson-Bradshaw, vice president for student affairs and dean of students at Ohio Northern University, serves as director of the Gospel Ensemble.
