Ohio Northern University professional writing students and area professionals will conduct a series of free mini-lectures on new media skills from March 19 through April 30. Sessions will be held in the Dukes Building (room 151) on Thursdays at 3 p.m.
These presentations will be hands-on and allow participants to learn new skills such as video shooting and editing, web design, and Twitter basics. The mini-tutorials are free and open to the public and ONU students, faculty and staff.
Each session is expected to last for approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Handouts will be provided, and the presentations will include a question-and-answer period.
The first session on March 19 will focus on “Basics of Video Shooting and Editing” by Noah Ashley and Aaron Tuck. The remaining schedule is as follows: “Introduction to Drupal Programming” by Sara Ohm (March 26); “Copy Editing as a Career” by Paula Scott, owner of PS Editorial Services (April 2); “Introduction to Wordpress” by Khadijah Bagais (April 16); “Basics of Twitter” by Jae Kyeong Kim (April 23); and “Career and Graduate School Opportunities in English” by English department graduates (April 30).
