John G. Acheson, 80, died at 12:37 a.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima, Ohio.
He was born on June 3, 1934 in Auglaize County, Ohio to Harold and Verla (Shipp) Acheson, who preceded him in death. On September 24, 1955 he married Margaret Crowe and she survives in Ada, Ohio.
John retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron after 30 years as a welder. He was a member of the Lima Masonic Lodge #205 F&AM. He was a 1952 graduate of Roundhead High School. John served in the US Air Force from 1954-1958. He was a member of the Bethel Church of Christ, Ada, Ohio.
Surviving are two sons, John Steven (Joyce) Acheson of Belle Center, Ohio; and
Jeffrey Alan (Penny) Acheson of Ada, Ohio; a daughter, Kimberly Ann (Randy) Anderson of Bluffton, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Janet Acheson of Lima, Ohio.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Rev.Harrison Underwood officiating. Burial will be in Roundhead Cemetery, Roundhead, Ohio A graveside military service will be conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 and until time of service on Thursday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.
