It's Bluffton's weekend for a fall festival

The Bluffton community’s 11th annual Fall Festival, with many family-oriented activities, takes place throughout the community on Saturday, Sept. 27, according to Daren Lee of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, who coordinates the festival.

Here’s the schedule:

Maple Crest Senior Living Village, 700 Maple Crest Ct.
• Antique tractor show, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
• Music by Easy Ed and The Country Pals (Bluegrass), 11 a.m.-11:45 a.m. and 1-1:45 p.m.
• Kiddie tractor pull, registration 1-1:30 p.m., pull starts 1:30 p.m.
• Fishing derby, 2-3:30 p.m.
• Food available 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St.

• Silent auction to noon
• Bake sale, 8:30 a.m.-until sold out
• Kid’s face painting, 10 a.m-4 p.m.
• Lunch, 10 a.m. and until sold out

• Fun photo booth, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
• Horse-drawn carriage rides from MMH and downtown, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
• Bingo (no cash prizes), 2 p.m.
• Kiddie train, kettle corn for sale, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
• Entertainment: DJ and Don Hurless Trio, noon-1: 30 p.m.

Willow Ridge, 101 Willow Ridge Dr.
All events from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Kloepfer’s Kitchen Concession
• DJ music
• Antique car show

Downtown Bluffton – Main Street retail district

Many businesses have special sales. Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, American Girl doll tea, 9 a.m. (tickets required); lunch including soup, sandwiches and home made pies, from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; wood artist chain saw exhibition on Vine Street; Horse-drawn carriage rides and bus rides from Mennonite Home stop at the Senior Center.

Swiss Community Historical Society homestead, 8350 Bixel Road -

Farm animal exhibits, straw bale maze and other kid’s games, corn shelling, bread-baking, needle crafts, open-fire meat roasting, popcorn popping, soup cooking, old-time rural crafts, wagon rides, horse plowing, Swiss-German music, historical exhibits and food available. New this year is a children’s role-playing of 1840s-era youth and farmers.

Bluffton Elementary School, 116 S. Jackson St. -

Bluffton Scrap Artists quilt show, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. elementary gym. Several sewing projects on display.

BFR Sports and Fitness, 215 Snider Road

Second annual Craft and Home Business Expo, over 30 booths of holiday gifts and specialty items. Craft vendors offer quilts, handmade furniture, glassware, patchwork animals, crocheted items, Fair-trade jewelry, and floral arrangements.  National home-based businesses include: Advocare, Damsel in Defense, It Works, Jamberry Nails, Jewelry in Candles, Lia Sophia, Origami Owl, Pampered Chef, Paparazzi, Perfectly Posh, Pink Zebra, Scentsy, Tastefully Simple, Tealightful, Thirty-One, Usborne Books, Younique. Demonstrations provided throughout the day, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. $1 admission.

Farmers’ Market, Citizens National Bank parking lot -
8:30 a.m. to noon, over 25 vendors.

Bluffton Hospital, 139 Garau St.
 -
Pony rides, face painting, inflatables for kids, pumpkin decorating and light refreshments. Transportation provided between downtown, BFR Sports and Fitness and the hospital during the day. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main St. -

Friends of the Library book sale, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Book sale also open to public from Sept. 24 to 26.
