Organization is underway this fall for an Ada Flight Civil Air Patrol. Sean Beck, Ada Flight Commander, provided the Icon with the following information for persons interested in additional information.
Do you have interest in the military or aviation? Do you want to serve your country? If you answered yes, this program may be right for you. Challenge yourself to become a Cadet or Senior Member in the United States Air Force Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol.
Your experiences will include:
• Orientation Flights
• Excellent leadership training
• Team building
• Search and Rescue and disaster relief opportunities
• Bivouacs (which are very intense camping trips.)
Frequently Asked Questions:
How old do I have to be?
• For Cadets, you have to be between 12 and 18 (but not older than 21.) For Senior Members, you just need to be over 18.
How much is it to join?
• For cadets it costs $40. This includes a uniform, ID and even books. For Seniors, the cost is $70.
When and where do you meet?
• We are currently meeting in Van Wert with the Squadron there. These meetings will be there until our membership number hits at least 15. Until then, the meetings take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays at the Van Wert Airport.
Are Cadets required to join the military?
• No. You are not obligated to join any branch. Although if you earn the Mitchell Award, you can join the U.S Air Force as an E-3.

• Adult volunteers. These volunteers are fingerprinted and screened by the FBI. They are also on hand for any cadet activity.
Are there any opportunities for adults?
