Brit Rowe, ONU professor, has "design" art on exhibit in Lima

Object and Graphic Design, a survey of contemporary graphic arts in Northwest Ohio, will open at ArtSpace with a reception for the artists, their families and friends, and supporters of ArtSpace on Friday, September 19, from 6:30-8:30 pm.

Brit Rowe, Professor of Graphic Arts in the Department of Art and Design at Ohio Northern University, curates the show. “Design,” he writes, “is more than just making things, people, and places look nice. In truth, design has spread to almost every facet of human activity, from education and politics to commerce. This exhibit will feature some of the most prominent and productive graphic designers in the area.” It will focus on the social, cultural and functional possibilities of design.

Northwest Ohio graphic designers to be featured in the show include:  Jennifer Bible, owner, JB Design Solutions, Lima, and winner of the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Midwest Region of the Small Business Administration in 2003; Paul Osborne, Paul Osborne Designs in Alger; Nancy Burnett, Adjunct Instructor in Advertising Design and currently the associate art director at Ohio Northern University; Toma Williams, Associate Director of Art and Design for the Office of Communications and Marketing at Ohio Northern University; Brittany Lang, Senior Graphic Design major at Ohio Northern University and winner of the 2014 Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (AICUO) Award for Excellence in the Visual Arts (EVA); and Jennifer Stucker, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, Bowling Green State University.

Object and Graphic Design will run in the Ellen Nelson Gallery through November 1, 2014. For further information, please call Bill Sullivan, ArtSpace/Lima Operations Manager, at 419-222-1721.
