Ada Barnyard Farmers will have petting zoo at library

The Ada Barnyard Farmers 4-H Club met on Sunday, May 18 at 3 p.m. The meeting was called to order by President Alexis Amburgey. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Kaitlin Long, and the 4-H Pledge was led by Mackenzie Long. Secretary Shelby Hazelton called roll, and * members were present. There was an introduction of visitors.

Secretary Shelby Hazelton read the minutes of the previous meeting, and they were approved as read. Treasurer Brice Ferguson read the treasurer’s report. The advisors gave a report.

It was announced that the club will run a small petting zoo at the Ada Public Library’s Summer Reading Program’s kick-off day, May 31. A sign-up sheet was passed around. It was also announced that the fair booth and community service committees will meet after the meeting.

New business included these upcoming dates: May 31, Dairy Beef weigh-in; June 1, deadline for livestock (except broilers); June 6, broiler purchase deadline and 4-H Camp sign up; June 10, 4-H fishing derby; June 14, Sheep weigh-in; June 18, Clover bud day camp; June 19, Quality Assurance Training; June 20, Ohio State Fair entries due. The meeting was moved to adjourn by Austin Amburgey and seconded by Hannah Beach.

A health and safety report was given by Hope Hazelton on the dangers and risks of artificial dyes in food. Demonstrations were given by Alexis Amburgey on tips for storage in a dorm room, Austin Amburgey on cat hazards, Hannah Beach on softball, and Liam Boulanger on owls. Austin Amburgey led the club in recreation and the Amburgeys and Winces provided refreshments. The next meeting will be held on Sunday June 22 at 3 p.m.
