Class of 2013 graduates from Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law placed first in the state of Ohio for full-time juris doctor-required job placement according to employment data released by the American Bar Association Section on Legal Education and Admission to the Bar.
ONU surpassed the national average for jobs requiring a law degree by nearly 10 percent. For the graduating class of 2013, 66.67 percent of ONU law graduates were employed in jobs requiring juris doctors in the United States.
“I continue to be amazed with the outcomes of our graduates and alumni,” said Richard Bales, dean of the Pettit College of Law. “They are practicing in meaningful jobs across the country and globe and are making incredible impacts in cities and communities alike. Our dedicated faculty, staff, alumni, and director of alumni and career services are testaments to what makes an ONU legal education so unique. I am very proud of our recent graduates and wish them success as they develop into community leaders and world-changers.”
U.S. law schools reported that 57 percent of graduates of the class of 2013 were employed in long-term, full-time positions where bar passage was required, compared with 56.2 percent for the class of 2012.
The council of the ABA Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar and its accreditation committee are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as the national accrediting agency for programs leading to the JD.
The section’s 14,000 members strive to improve legal education and lawyer licensing by fostering cooperation among legal educators, practitioners and judges through workshops, conferences and publications. The section also studies and makes recommendations for the improvement of the bar admission process.
