Harvest & Herb Festival vendor deadline

Ada's 36th annual Harvest & Herb Festival and Parade is fast approaching. Ada Area Chamber of Commerce director Lindsay Walden reports that over 100 booths have been sold with many new vendors to appear at the show.

Vendors are encouraged to sign up by September 2 so that organizers will have plenty of time to assign booth locations.

Kiwanis Pedal Pull winners announced

The Ada Kiwanis has announced the following winners of the Pedal Pull competition at the 2022 Farmers & Merchants picnic on August 13.

A total of 38 contestants were interviewed and competed at the War Memorial Park bandshell.

Class 1 - 3-4 year olds - 8 contestants

1st - Declan Johnson, Bluffton, OH

2nd - Wyatt Clum, Ada, OH

3rd - Asher Sprang, Forest, OH

4th - Hank Klear, Ada, OH

 

Class 2, 5-6 year olds, 19 contestants

1st - Chandler Salyer, Ada, OH

2nd - Margaret Price, Ada, OH

3rd - Kamden Sampson, Alger, OH

Goal kick simulator and beer sales added to 2022 football festival

The August 27 Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival is growing. Two new attractions were announced by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce this week:

  • A goal kick simulator will be provided by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This is the premiere event for this Hall of Fame feature.
  • A beer permit has been approved. Beer sales will take place at the Center on Central with Ada Lions Club volunteer servers.

The Saturday event has two main components: an official PPK punt, pass and kick competition at 1:00 p.m. at ONU's Dial-Roberson Stadium and the 4:30-10:00 p.m. Tailgate Party at the Ada Train Depot Park, 9 Central Ave.

Ada High School kicks off its 2022 campaign Friday, August 18, with a home contest vs. non-league local rival Waynesfield-Goshen, looking to improve in season two of their rebuilding project under coach Toby Smith.

W-G knocked off the visiting Bulldogs in the 2021 opener, 42-12. But the final score was deceptive as the Tigers pulled away from a 14-6 halftime lead with 28 unanswered points to put pesky Ada away.

A section of County Road 44 will close Aug 19-23 for paving

The office of the Hardin County Engineer has announced that County Road 44 between Ada and County Road 65 will be closed Friday, August 19-Tuesday, August 23 for road paving.

Bulldog golfers nipped by Ridgemont

Looking for their first win, the Ada High School golf team came close but dropped a dual match vs. Hardin County rival Ridgemont at Memorial Golf Course in Kenton Wednesday evening, Agust 17.

The Gophers defeated the Bulldogs by 14 strokes, 220-234.

Senior Geddes Klingler topped Ada with a round of 50 to finish second overall in the match. 

Bulldog junior Jack Baumgartner recorded a score of 56. Senior Dale Hoyt carded a season-low 58. Freshman Jayden Shaffer shot 70, while classmate Sam Crawford added a round of 71.

Ridgemont's Hayden Oats was match medalist with a 47.
