October 8 bird count at The Quarry Farm

PANDORA—October 8 is October Big Day, the first day of the international effort known as Global Bird Weekend. (There is also a May Big Day.)

Want to participate? You can join birders Deb Weston and David Smith at 9:00 a.m. at The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve & Conservation Farm. Hike to record the species that you see in the nature preserve.

The complete list will be submitted to ebird.org to join the global team and help set a new record for birding. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.

AHS volleyball sweeps rival Rams

McGUFFEY--The visiting Ada High School volleyball team swept backyard arch-rival Upper Scioto Valley Monday night, October 3, at Alumni Fieldhouse.

The convincing 25-17, 25-20, 25-11 win upped the Lady Bulldogs record to 10-9 overall. USV fell to 6-8 with the defeat.

The Bulldogs beat the rival Rams with a balanced team effort.

Ada senior libero Courtney Sumner mustered up 18 digs to add to her program career record total.

Junior setter Autumn Andreasen dealt 13 assists and made seven digs.

Junior southpaw Mariah King led the Bulldogs with eight kills.

AHS girls soccer loss at Spencerville; Marshall sets goal record of 15

SPENCERVILLE--The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team lost 3-1 to Spencerville in a Northwest Conference match Monday evening, October 3.

The Bulldog girls fell to 5-8 overall and 0-4 in the NWC with the defeat. 

The Lady Bearcats improved to 2-7-3 overall and 1-3-1 in the NWC with their first league win. 

The game was scoreless for the first 25 minutes, with Ada controlling the ball for much of the first 15 minutes.

Spencerville scored the first goal, but Bulldog ace Ella Marshall tied it for Ada 1-1 with a record-setting score.

AHS boys soccer felled by Bearcats

SPENCERVILLE--The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team lost 6-2 at Spencerville in a Northwest Conference match Monday, October 3.

The Bulldogs fell to 5-6-3 overall and 1-2-1 in the NWC with the road defeat. 

The Bearcats improved to 8-2-2 and 2-1 in NWC play after the win.

Spencerville led 3-1 at halftime, and the hosts also won the second half by an identical 3-1 count.

Logan Jolliff led Ada with a goal and one assist. Carter Conley tallied one goal. Drew Long dished out one assist.

Colton Long made eight stops in goal. 

Ada (0-4 NCOSA) plays at Van Buren (3-3-3, 0-0-2 NCOSA) Thursday, Oct. 6.

Ada goes pink for Breast Cancer awareness
