AHS girls swim team 4th at Eagle sprint meet

NORTH ROBINSON--The Ada High School girls swim team finished a strong fourth at the Eagle Invitational sprint meet hosted by Colonel Crawford east of Bucyrus Saturday, January 14.

Ada sophomore Lily Baumgartner won two events and set a meet record in capturing the 50 freestyle race. She also came within .60 of breaking the meet record while winning the 100 individual medley.

Bulldog senior Carlie Oldfield won the 50 backstroke and took second in the 25 freestyle.

AHS girls basketball dominates Calvary Christian

Playing at home, the Ada High School girls basketball team defeated Calvary Christian convincingly 51-27 in a non-conference game early Saturday afternoon, January 14.

The Bulldogs improved to 7-8 with the victory, while CC fell to 6-2 with the defeat.

"It was a great team win," said Ada head coach Zach Ricker. "It was nice to come out on a quick turnaround and get a win after Thursday night. 

"It was probably our most balanced game of the year offensively," he added. 

AHS boys basketball: Conley shoots Ada past Bears

DOLA–Ada High School boys basketball team decisively defeated county rival Hardin Northern 67-49 in a non-conference battle Saturday night, January 14.

Senior Carter Conley scored a career-high 27 points on the strength of six three-pointers to pace the Bulldogs. Classmate Spencer Wall netted a season-high 17 points.

Ada improved to 6-7 overall and snapped a four-game losing skid with the much-needed victory. Meanwhile, HN dropped to 4-9 with the loss.

"We had a slow start, but got the first quarter lead and never let up," said second-year Ada head coach Vince Halliday. 

Ada led 15-9 after one period and 29-21 at halftime as Conley poured in 17 points. A 19-10 Bulldog third quarter extended the lead to 17 points.

"We got stops and scores, and took it one possession at a time," Halliday said of the successful third period.

Wall scored 12 of his 17 points in the second half as Ada outscored HN 38-28.

"It was a night where we had the better athletes," said Halliday.
