Bulldogs wrestlers compete at Hardin County tri-match

KENTON__The Ada High School wrestling team split a triangular match at Kenton with Riverdale Tuesday evening, December 19.

The Bulldogs beat the Falcons 33-15 but lost to the host Wildcats, 45-18.

OSU Extension webinar provides avian flu guidance, Dec. 19

You may or may not be aware that Hardin County has had a recent outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza. It is very important that you take steps to protect your backyard flock, if you currently have ANY poultry. The recent HPAI outbreak in multiple counties in Ohio has resulted in over 4 million birds being affected and prompted a lot of questions. 

OSU Extension’s Poultry Specialist will be hosting a webinar at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19 in collaboration with the USDA Incident Response Team to try to provide an opportunity for you to learn more about the outbreak and how it is affecting both the Ohio poultry industry and the backyard/4-H poultry communities. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and see what educational support is available.

Chamber members wrap up 2023 with Dec. 20 meeting

Area Area Chamber of Commerce members will meet on Wednesday morning for the last membership meeting of 2023. Breakfast is going to be provided by Circle U Waffle Co. 

Ada council member challenges Cross for 83rd Statehouse District

On Monday, December 18, Sheila Coressel (D-Ada) submitted her petitions to be the Democratic nominee for the 83rd State House District. A Village of Ada council member, Coressel moved here in 2016 to serve as the Director of Pharmacy Student Affairs at Ohio Northern University. 

Mary Ruth Wagner was a homemaker

Mary Ruth Wagner, 91, of Ada, passed away December 18, 2023 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.  Mary was born March 24, 1932 in Delphos to the late Forest and Martha (Kunz) Gudakunst.  On May 18, 1952 she married Carl Wagner who survives.  

Ellen L. “Sis” Samples worked in electronics

Ellen L. “Sis” Samples, age 86, of Alger and formerly of Charleston, WV, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at her residence. 

She was born on September 12, 1937, in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Basil and Evelyn “Eva” (Pickering) Shaffer. On June 1, 1962 Ellen married James Samples who preceded her in death on January 1, 1968.
